- John Stafford follows in his fellow countryman's footsteps - 

It was the first Tuesday of golf from the new Outback Golf Bar for the 27 Outbackers who made the short trip across the 36 to the welcoming Pattaya Country Club. Included in the 27 was the Outback’s very own Capt' Bob who was pleased to have respite from the hectic period of the move. Once again there were a number of our Aussie friends with us.

We required an additional tee time which the starter was able to offer as is usual, despite the course being fairly busy. The weather was hot and humid with just a little breeze and the course was a little dry in places although there were a number of sprinklers in operation.

With 27 players there were two divisions with four places in each, plus the '2's.

Division ‘A’ [0 - 18]

In top spot was Graham Holmes (8) with a fine 40 pts. Second were Aussie and regular Outbacker Chris Fletcher (10) with 37, followed by local lad, David Day (16) with 36 even without his regular caddy due to a mix up!

Division ‘B’ [19+]

Top score of the day came from John Stafford with a great 44 pts, just one point short of John Cogan's total a couple of weeks ago – John almost lost out for submitting his score card late but the understanding organiser, Barry Chadbourn accepted the card on this occasion! Second place went to regular Outbacker and PCC member Nigel Cannon (24) with 39 pts.

After closer scrutiny on Wednesday [yesterday], Rod Crosswell was placed fourth in Div A with 35pts and Peter Lee [35pts] third in Div B with Arthur Bailey fourth with 34; and not those declared at presentation, the winners and runner-ups remain unaffected. The Outback apologises for the error. 

There was another 'jackpot 2', this time from Alan Pearce.

The Outback is at Pattaya Country every Tuesday with a 0930 tee time.
