Time wise, Phoenix excelled today, with the first group of 36 Outbackers, playing Mountain & Lake, round in less than four hours, held up only in front by two holidaymaking three balls. Price wise, Phoenix at 1950 Baht [incl cart for one person], it is dearer than Burapha by far, add that to the price of a beer in the clubhouse and on the course, and it becomes an expensive day out. Nevertheless, the course was very busy and with the Outback's numbers capped at nine groups, we apologise to those we could not accommodate.
The first tee on Mountain was well forward auguring perhaps for some low scoring but the greens were hairy and grainy causing loads of swing as the ball slowed, making for some tricky putting conditions.

Rick Evans got right back into the groove scoring a solid 36pts off 6 to win Div A from the Irish contingent of Messrs Regan & Connellan who finished in that order with 34pts apiece, with another Irishman back in fourth.
Div B was won by the in form, Lawrie McBride on 37pts, one ahead of Bruce Milner [36pts] who played better today than of late and Rosco [31pts] who has also been out of salts recently; but holds the honour of being the Outback's most prolific winner in 2009, with 15 wins.

Div C was once again the turn of the girls to dominate, even though they have two shots deducted from their handicap. There's no stopping Jum, off 19 today, with an excellent 39pts ahead of another lady Sakorn, and Jack Piercefield both with 34; but Jack just edged Sakorn into third on countback.

There were only three '2's from Noddy Moyle, Lawrie McBride & Frank O'Hara.
