Golf in Pattaya - The No.1 Golf Bar

outsideareafrontpage

CREATED FOR GOLFERS BY GOLFERS

The Outback Golf Bar was created by two golfers who have lived and played golf in this area of Thailand for a number of years, and realised there was something missing.
We're based on the Siam Country Club road about twenty minutes from the beaches and infamous delights of Pattaya. Amid lush green palms and eucalyptus groves, and within half an hour of a dozen or more fine courses, we are the ideal base for golf.

With five TV screens and service from our Setanta and Astro dishes we can show most live sports, particularly NFL & Rugby Union, AFL, Golf, Formula 1 and MotoGP, some of which are in High Definition which looks absolutely amazing on our latest 55 inch 2D/3D LG screen. We can also show some of the early premier league football games. We are still waiting for True visions to commence their HD service after several delays.

Put the golf back into the Outback in 2012

New schedules planned for the Outback.

It's not possible to please all the people all the time but here at the Outback we try to listen to what our customers want and with that in mind, we plan to make some dramatic changes to our playing schedule in 2012

Mondays will take on two venues, both Burapha and Kheow Khao, these tournaments will both remain singles stableford events for the timebeing.

Tuesdays will remain at Pattaya C C but we shall introduce an alternate at the start of the low season.

Wednesdays & Thursdays will be a variety of different courses, including those we haven't visited for some years now, Navy, Century Chonburi, and Rayong C C. The format on these days will also be different; every second week there will be two hidden pairs draw competition [Weds & Thurs]; each player will draw a number at the start of his regular singles round and will be paired with an unknown player holding the same number. Back at the bar the computer will work out the better ball score for each pairing and at presentation Capt' Bob will announce the pairings and the winners will collect the added prize money for each event from one of our sponsors. This will happen over the next two months [ie for 8 events] the third and fourth will take place at the Navy and Emerald on 1st & 2nd of Feb this week. After the two months is up there will be an additional bonus prize for the best better balll score.

One Wednesday or Thursday each month we will bring back the away day coach trip to Royal Lakeside, Bang Prakong, Kiarti Tharnee and other interesting courses such as Lotus Valley, The Royal and Cascati.

Fridays will remain unchanged at Green Valley for the time-being.

Hopefully, you will support these ideas which we think will regenerate some more interesting golf.

Note: Greg Hirst from DeVere Financial Group, our existing sponsor of the Pattaya C C Eclectic will continue next month and Big Mango Properties are expected to sponsor another type of format in January after the difficulties in administering the November best 6 cards idea.

Also you will note that our Photo Gallery on the top menu bar has been removed and our photos can now been found on our facebook page.

Recent events have prompted a rethink on our 'pick up in Pattaya' policy. All too many times our driver has been running around trying to find a particular hotel or having found it, the person we are due to collect is either late or still in bed. Whilst we know that is an occupational hazard, it can be unfair un the passengers who have already been picked up or are still due to be picked up.

Your handicap card, shows your last 20 scores; the 10 marked with an asterisk are your counting scores. The score on the top left corner is your most recent and in the bottom right corner, your oldest.

Each time a score is submitted, the oldest one drops off. If there is a lower score without an asterisk, it will be on an easier rated course, that is why it is non- counting, to work out the exact differential, study the example below.

After a meeting of PSC venue heads on Sat 7th May, the use of "Drop Zones" on all courses was unanimously approved with immediate effect. The PSC handicap committee met on Sat 14th May to ratify the amendment and to discuss and approve other minor changes, which are published below.
We would welcome input from players who have knowledge of the local courses where special local rules may apply but have not been covered properly by the course's own local rules.  Any ideas or suggestions for consideration please see Joe Mooneyham [PSC Golf Chairman] or Brad Sproxton [at The Golf Club] , or Suzi Lawton or Jack Moseley [both at the Outback], all members of the PSC handicap committee.
