NRL State of Origin

After our visit to Bangpra next Wednesday 23rd May, we shall be showing the first of the three NRL State of Origin matches live from Melbourne which kicks off at 5pm Thai time.
The Golfing Committee
Steve Mann, who has taken over as Capt' of the Outback Golf Bar, comes with impeccable credentials too long to list but essentially has 26 years experience at the top level of golf management which includes some 4 years as Captain and 5 years as President at his club, Lakelands in Perth, Western Australia and was made a life member in 2010.
Suzi Lawton, Club Secretary, has extensive experience from Nerja, Spain where she was elected onto the GINS committee [Golf in Nerja Society] in 2005 running and organising various tournaments and away trips etc.
Barry Chadbourn, also hails from Nerja, Southern Spain and was a committee member of GINS in 2000/1, the largest golfing society in the area, before moving on to handicap secretary the following year and Captain in 2003/4. Chad, as he's better known, during that time organised many a tournament and will be a valuable asset to the team.
Paul Greenaway, started golf a the age of 24 with a handicap of 16 before coming down rapidly to a 5 handicapper and representing a scratch team in the Halifax region. His knowledge of golf and golf rules will provide another great hand to the committee.
Nigel Cannon & Joe Mooneyham need no introduction in the Pattaya area as they have both been extensively involved within the PSC and readily help out whenever they can at Outback events. They both also are part of the PSC Handicap committee who sit with General Jack to rate and slope many of the local courses we all play.
It is hoped to bring a better golfing experience to those who play with the Outback as we bring more of a club environment to golf revolving around a team rather than an individual, and as a team are better suited to plan ahead and generally improve our customer service.
Golf in Pattaya
Laem Chabang & Siam Plantation to join the Outback 2012 schedule.
It's not possible to please all the people all the time but now with a fully experienced committee to run our daily golf we hope to be better able to listen and to better manage our golf schedules to provide a wider choice of golfing venues at every level and most importantly, at the best available price.
Mondays will continue at two venues, Burapha and Kheow Khao, these tournaments will both remain singles stableford events for the timebeing.
Tuesdays will remain at Pattaya C C, even though the course is to be reduced to 2 x 9 holes for the next six months, whilst they carry out extensive renovation work to the back nine. After the first month [April], if we find this is inpracticable, we will consider moving elsewhere, maybe to the Navy. Also on Tuesdays we are introducing Laem Chabang for the more discerning golfer, at the Sports day rate of 1900 Baht all up. Laem Chabang will start on Tuesday 24th April.
Wednesdays will continue to be a variety of different courses, including Bangpra, the Navy, Phoenix to name but a few. Also on Wednesdays, starting on 2nd May we will start a regular slot at Siam Plantation at the fantastic Sports day rate of 2350 Baht all up.
Thursdays almost certainly will be discontinued during the upcoming months but we shall see.
Fridays will remain unchanged at Green Valley for the time-being.
Hopefully, you will support these ideas which we think will regenerate some more interesting golf.

USGA Handicap Cards explained
Your handicap card, shows your last 20 scores; the 10 marked with an asterisk are your counting scores. The score on the top left corner is your most recent and in the bottom right corner, your oldest.
Each time a score is submitted, the oldest one drops off. If there is a lower score without an asterisk, it will be on an easier rated course, that is why it is non- counting, to work out the exact differential, study the example below.
Current PSC local rules
After a meeting of PSC venue heads on Sat 7th May, the use of "Drop Zones" on all courses was unanimously approved with immediate effect. The PSC handicap committee met on Sat 14th May to ratify the amendment and to discuss and approve other minor changes, which are published below.
We would welcome input from players who have knowledge of the local courses where special local rules may apply but have not been covered properly by the course's own local rules. Any ideas or suggestions for consideration please see Joe Mooneyham [PSC Golf Chairman] or Brad Sproxton [at The Golf Club] , or Suzi Lawton or Jack Moseley [both at the Outback], all members of the PSC handicap committee.
Marked increase in 1st Quarter

Perhaps Pattaya City's win at the “IAGTO Awards 2012” held last November in Turkey, as the No. 1 golfing destination in Asia and Australasia for 2012, has contributed to a sharp upturn in golfers
